Jennifer Brown
Dr. Brown is a dual board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine, currently practicing full-time at Rainelle Medical Center—a federally qualified health center serving rural West Virginia. In addition to providing hands-on patient care, she contributes regularly to RMC’s wellness blog, with a focus on healthy living and preventive care. Dr. Brown brings extensive experience in urgent care telemedicine, having served as an independent contractor with leading platforms including Amwell and MeMD over a five-year period. Her work included participation in a pilot program with Apple and Amwell exploring the diagnostic capabilities of the Apple Watch for atrial fibrillation—pushing the boundaries of remote monitoring and asynchronous care. Today, she continues to incorporate telehealth into her practice, offering virtual visits to patients with chronic care needs or limited transportation access. She has completed the American Medical Writers Association’s Essential Skills certification and several medical writing programs, combining clinical expertise with strong communication skills. At Telemedtrends.com, Dr. Brown writes about the evolving role of telehealth in primary care, rural health innovation, and the future of patient-centered virtual care.
